Rt. 33 Cave

Harman to Elkins

There is a man-made cave along Rt. 33 not far from Harman on the way to Elkins.   This cave was excavated by the highway dept. for fill stone and for lime perhaps for making concrete for the highway.

The cave is quite massive with a central "apple core" and a huge circular room with very high ceiling all around.  Sometimes the cave fills partially with water in some places but not deep at all.

Also, there are 3 waterfalls that form after rains outside of the cave that feed a creek that passes by and sometimes empties into the cave causing partial flooding.

See Services page for pre-packaged tours or create one from the gallery photos within.
